This the brilliant Tony Awards performance of Jennifer Holliday in DREAMGIRLS.  Spot how she picks up and moves her left leg at 6:16.  I always thought it was one of her signature moves that came from the frustration about Curtis leaving her.  But turns out, it was choreographed by Michael Bennett to make sure Jennifer stepped over the thick cable in the middle of the stage!!!!

  1. I think that a show got *8* mins during a Tony broadcast is amazing!

  4. I never get tired of that song or her performance. When I was in High School, I used to stay up late to listen to the top 40 soul tunes on the military radio station. This song introduced me to the world of belters and soul belters, and the show Dreamgirls. I’ll never forget it.

  6. At 2:11 you hear Loretta Divine go, “What!”, after being accused of being in cahoots with Sheryl Lee Ralph. I never noticed it before in all the times (many) I’ve watched this on youtube. Too funny! This performance is amazing though.
