4. Hey Seth, I assume you know this, but just in case: that first horn line is a direct quotation from Der Rosenkavalier. It’s Sondheim’s (or Tunick’s?) acknowledgment of what a Straussian score this is.

6. We are so there–January 16 matinee!! We have seen Angela Lansbury as Mame, Rose, as the most amazing meatpie maker, and fellow audience member at Annie Get Your Gun. To see her once again singing about Liaisons—-oh my heart be still!!
