She was one of my favorite singers while I was growing and I LOVED the “Ain’t Misbehavin’” album. Here are some Nell Carter highlights

  1. http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/289006.php - Oh my god, Ken Page is coming over to Tucson this weekend. You’ve just convinced me to see this guy.

I’m going to see Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin next Wednesday - is there any messages or birthday wishes you want me to pass on?

  2. Seth - Fantastic deconstruction! Have you listened to Nell sing “Up Where We Belong” with Andy Gibb?

  3. a double helping today -

    1. I’ve always loved Nell Carter too - funny, touching, and a great singer.

    2. (paraphrasing) “I don’t know what belting is, I’m eleven and I’m straight…..”

I thought only my childhood friends had that reaction.

    Love the site,

    Paul

  4. I recently saw Nell Carter’s star on the Walk of Fame outside the gorgeous Alabama Theater in Ms. Carter’s hometown of Birmingham, and reflected with a friend on how talented she was. We also noted that she was the only black Jewish Republican lesbian from Alabama we could think of.
