Some of the many things I love about this clip--are there any things not to love about this clip?--are Ethel's expressions and her bits of business as she prepares to launch into the öperatic number. I also love just to hear her sing. Maybe best of all I love that while Ethel ends up kind of reaping what she sowed, she still triumphs in the end.

I Love Lucy was like no other sit-com then or now. It was fun to watch Lucy get into a mess, but this episode is one of my favorites because it's Ethel who gets put into her place by the rest of the cast.
