I Love Lucy was like no other sit-com then or now. It was fun to watch Lucy get into a mess, but this episode is one of my favorites because it’s Ethel who gets put into her place by the rest of the cast.

What theatre was this filmed in? If anyone knows, I will be shocked, and thankful.
I never laughed THIS HARD at a Lucy episode EVER!!!!!!

Some of the many things I love about this clip–are there any things not to love about this clip?–are Ethel’s expressions and her bits of business as she prepares to launch into the öperatic number. I also love just to hear her sing. Maybe best of all I love that while Ethel ends up kind of reaping what she sowed, she still triumphs in the end.
