This is the amazing Lillias White singing “Brotherhood of Man” vs. the original version.  She’s gonna be the guest on my Studio A cabaret all this weekend (if you don’t have Sirius radio, get three days free at Sirius.com), AND she’s performing Monday’s at The Triad on 72nd street all this month (at 9:30).  Listen to Ted Sperling’s amazing arrangement and Lillias’ tone, vibrato, riffs, phrasing and BRILLIANCE!

  1. Seth,
You are hilarious! My son is a musical theater major at Hartt in CT,
He got me watching you this summer when we got hooked on your blog about Legally Blonde. I love the new blog design! You give me hope that my detail-obsessed-theater-geek-kid can really go to NYC and live the life. AHMAZING !
    Hugs,
    Jen

  3. Oh my God! I was obsessed with this after I saw it performed on the Tony Awards. I used to sit in my bedroom doing this very thing while listening to the recording. I found the Tonys clip on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV2zOsRSS7s. She is amazing!

  6. Seth,

You’re wonderful! FYI, I’m a white guy from Illinois who knows how to clap on the downbeat.

Been loving this song since the 95 Tonys. Thanks for the deconstruction!

  7. I ADORE that album! I got it because of my mind-blowing obsession with Megan Mullally and then I realized that the adorable Matthew Broderick was on it too!…but then it didn’t stop there! I heard Lillias on this and I was dying. I looked it up on youtube for the Tony Award performance and showed it to my Mom. Needless to say, at that very moment, there were two Jewish women that desperately wanted to be as fierce as her.
